The sentencing of a woman who let her boyfriend hide a double-barrelled, sawn-off shotgun in her Walthamstow house has been delayed for at least a month due to the judge being placed on long-term sick leave.
Shereen Lawrence, 34, of Hillcrest Road in Walthamstow, and boyfriend Sunny Taiwo, 34, of Holt Road in Beckton, were due to appear in Inner London Crown Court on Wednesday, but the hearing was postponed indefinitely.
Today, a court spokesman told the Guardian that the case will not go ahead until April 7 at the earliest because it is reserved to Judge Roger Chapple, who was placed on long-term sick leave this week.
On February 4 Lawrence was convicted of possessing a prohibited firearm and Taiwo was convicted of 10 firearms offences.
Lawrence has been released on bail and Taiwo was remanded in custody.
