Tributes have been left at the scene where a man was found dead yesterday following a suspected attempted burglary.

Police have yet to formally identify the dead man but tributes left at the scene have named him as Steve or Stephen.

The body was found in an alleyway off Mason Way in Waltham Abbey at around 1pm yesterday.

Flowers left from the victim's parents read: “My darling Stephen. Missing you so much. I will never give up on you my darling.”

Another from the victim’s brother read: “Miss you brother. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts, can’t believe you’re gone.”

Local reports suggest the man died after a fence panel collapsed on him.

Two men were arrested yesterday on suspicion of burglary and remain in custody.

A post mortem examination is due to take place today.
