Police renew appeal one week after two men were fatally stabbed in Montague Road, Leytonstone
An additional four people have been arrested in connection of last Saturday's double murder in Leytonstone.
Police have launched a renewed appeal for information after Aaron Carriere, 21, and Josiah Manful, 20, were found stabbed to death in a black Ford Fiesta in Montague Road at 1am on March 1.
Despite the best efforts of the London Ambulance Service, both men were pronounced dead the scene.
A post-mortem examination held the same day showed the cause of death for Mr Carriere as stab wounds to the neck, while Mr Manful died from shock, haemorrhaging and stab wounds to the chest.
Police believe there were four other cars in Montague Road at the time of the murder and are especially keen to identify the vehicles and occupants.
An incident room has been opened in Barking under Detective Chief Inspector Neil Attewell from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC).
In total, 10 men and one woman have been arrested since Wednesday.
Five men - two aged 18, one aged 20, a 21-year-old and one aged 22, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murder.
A 46-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All six people have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Police made a seventh arrest on Thursday, but have not released his age and he remains in custody at an East London police station.
A further four men were arrested yesterday in connection with the investigation and have been bailed to a later date.
DCI Neil Attewell is asking anyone with information to share this immediately with the police.
He said: "One week on from the double murder we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the attack or the events leading up to the murders.
"We have made a number of arrests but we still require the help and assistance of those in the local community who have any knowledge as to why Aaron and Josiah were brutally targeted.
"Someone knows the reason why these two young men murdered and I am urging those who hold the information not to remain silent but to come forward.
“Extensive enquires into the events of that day continue and we now know that there were four other vehicles in and around Montague Road at the time of the murders.
"I am appealing for the occupants of those vehicles to come forward and assist us with our investigation.”
