A taxi driver was taken to hospital after being run over.

Saeid Chaudhari was reported to have been crossing High Street, Epping, when he was struck by a car at around 1am on Sunday.

Mr Chaudhari who is in his 30s remains in hospital with injuries to his neck and arm.

Blood can still be seen on the pavement outside the former Wimpey restaurant, near the 195 nightclub.

Although the man's injuries are serious they are not thought to be life threatening.

The Guardian is awaiting more information from police.
