A battle of the bands competition raised over £3,000 for charity on Saturday.
Shockhed, from Wanstead High School, took the top prize with a cover of the Arctic Monkey’s Teddy Picker, an original song and a cover of Spandau Ballet’s Gold.
Record producer and musician Geoff Westley, a former musical director for the Bee Gees, judged the competition.
The money will be split between Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green and Capital FM’s Help a Capital Child
The event, held at Forest School, Snaresbrook, was organised by Year 12 pupil Charlie Donald and included bands from Wanstead High School, Bancroft’s, Chigwell, Felsted and Forest School.
He said: “The event was a huge success. The attendances and the atmosphere were fantastic.
“The committee worked so hard and I am proud to have been a part of it. The teachers involved also played an extremely important role.
“Raising money for such good causes can only be described as fantastic and I know the money will make a difference.”
