Filmmakers and animators are being invited to pitch for commission to make a film about Waltham Forest.
Developers of The Scene cinema at Cleveland Place, the former Arcade site in Walthamstow, are asking for submissions of a 10 minute piece to be shown at the new cinema.
Two winners will receive £15,000 plus VAT each for production fees.
One will be judged overall winner and the film will be screened in the new Empire Cinema during its launch at the end of the year.
Films must feature community participation and cover a range of groups.
The competition is funded by developers Hill Residential as a condition of planning permission which set money aside for public art on the former Arcade site.
Project curator Ashley McCormick said: “This innovative project is an opportunity for artists to explore and develop what binds and inspires communities – physically, conceptually, politically, economically and subliminally.”
The deadline for submitting documents outlining proposals is 10am on March 21.
