A temporary swimming pool could remain in place for a further12 weeks.
The 12-metre pool was opened in the grounds of Wanstead Leisure Centre, Redbridge Lane West, at a cost of £30,000 in January for a planned 12-week period.
However the pool, which was previously used for training at the London Olympics, has proved popular with local residents and pupils at Wanstead High School who use it for swimming lessons.
Due to close in mid-April, Redbridge Council is looking at extending the deadline for 12 weeks.
A spokeswoman from the council said: “Discussions are currently taking place between Vision RCL and the provider of the pool, Total Swimming, on the possibility of extending the period for an additional 12 weeks.”
