A pigeon rescued yesterday by the fire brigade “will be fine”, according to the RSPCA.

One fire engine attended the incident at 9.25am when the pigeon became trapped in netting above the Chrystall Chemist in The Broadway, Woodford Green.

A spokeswoman from the RSPCA said: “Apparently the pigeon was taken to a local wildlife centre which said he will be fine."

The pigeon will be released back into the wild in the next couple of days.

She added: “It is important for people who put netting like this up to maintain it and make sure it doesn't have any holes or disrepair which might cause a hazard or danger to wildlife.”
