A Chingford music teacher was eliminated from The Voice last night.

Gary Poole, of Friday Hill, won through to the last seven of Tom Jones’s team, but was not chosen to continue in the competition.

He sung George Michael’s Freedom in the knock-out round.

The 47-year-old is a full-time musician specialising in soul and jazz, and a part-time university lecturer.

Poole toured the world with urban soul group D’Influence and once supported Prince and Michael Jackson at Wembley Arena.

The father-of-three teaches music harmony and vocal technique at the London Centre of Contemporary Music in London Bridge.
