A nursery criticised by Ofsted has made significant improvements, according to the watchdog.

A report published earlier this month following an inspection last year found the Valley Hill Nursery, Pre-school and Kids Club in Langston Road, Loughton, was disorganised with no staff trained to deal with medical problems.

Now the watchdog has said the issues, which led to an ‘inadequate rating, have been resolved following a visit to check an order to protect children’s welfare had been carried out.

Nick Hudson, Ofsted’s national director for early education, wrote: “The atmosphere was calm and friendly. You have a positive attitude to improvement and are working with the Local Authority to improve your practice and meet the other actions which will be checked at the next monitoring visit.

“You provided documentary evidence to show that four members of your staff, which includes yourself, have a current paediatric first aid qualification.

“Staff attendance is organised to ensure that there is at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate on the premises at all times.”

Owner Keiley Pedro is currently contesting Ofsted’s previous findings, claiming her business was unfairly criticised.
