Calls for monthly updates on a failing hospital trust are set to be debated by councillors tonight.

The petition, signed by 1654 people, calls for Redbridge Council to publish performance statistics about King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queens Hospital in Romford. Along with an interview with the trust’s chief executive each month on progress being made.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), which runs the hospitals, was placed in special measures in December after the Care Quality Commission raised concerns about patient safety at the hospitals.

The Trust's CEO, Averil Dongworth, retired on March 11 and Matthew Hopkins will replace her on April 1.

Any petition submitted to the council with 1,500 signatures or more must be debated at a meeting of full council.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 7.15pm at Redbridge Town Hall.
