Children from Riverley Primary School in Park Road, Leyton, and St Joseph’s Junior School in Vicarage Road, Leyton, were among the first to try out a huge wooden pirate ship which has been installed in nearby Jubilee Park.
The 20m vessel can hold 100 youngsters and includes slides, climbing nets, ladders and exercise bars for children aged three and up.
The new equipment is part of £2m invested in the 34-acre park’s recent transformation, which will soon include a new cafe and a woodland footpath alongside Orient Way.
