A pensioner is to appear in court today accused of falsely claiming benefits.
Ali Akbar, 69, is set to attend Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court to answer two charges of making false statements to gain payments.
The charges relate to claims in January 2010 and June 2006 when Mr Akbar of Clayside, Chigwell, is accused of failing to declare his capital when claiming pension credit.
He is also accused of taking advantage of help with council tax payments when it was not truly needed.
