The findings of a study investigating ways to boost Waltham Forest’s economy will be published tomorrow.

The Waltham Forest Growth Commission, chaired by Professor Tony Travers, of the London School of Economics, will publish the findings tomorrow night after six months of work.

Recommendations in the independent report, which was commissioned by the council, are set to include the importance of the high street, skills and jobs, housing and land use, transport, and ways Waltham Forest can stand out in London, an authority spokesman said.

Professor Travers said: “Waltham Forest is an important part of London’s multi-billion pound economy, with significant potential for future development.

“When measured against many inner and central London boroughs, Waltham Forest has a modestly-sized economy.

“But as these inner and central parts of the city become more expensive and congested, there are significant economic improvements for the borough.”

Council leader Chris Robbins added: “We will do all we can to work with our partners to make Waltham Forest not only a place where our residents and businesses can prosper, but a place that we can all be proud of.”
