Two people have been taken to hospital after reports of a chemical explosion and spillage at a golf club.

The pair suffered chemical burns at Loughton Golf Club in Clays Lane and were taken to Whipps Cross hospital by ambulance at about noon.

A fire service spokeswoman said fire fighters had also been called to the scene to check for any danger relating to the chemical spill.
