A pensioner set to stand trial accused of benefit fraud has been bailed after it emerged he would need an interpreter.
Ali Akbar, 69, of Clayside in Chigwell, is charged with two counts of making false statements to gain pension credit and council tax benefit.
Mr Akbar is accused of not declaring capital when making statements in 2006 and 2010.
After an initial appearance in court on Monday, he has been bailed to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on April 7 to enter a plea with an interpreter.
