The Guardian took these pictures yesterday afternoon of the aftermath of Saturday's plane crash near Ongar.

Passenger Simon Chamberlain, 29, and the so far unnamed pilot were killed when the YAK 52 crashed into a field off the A414 near Cooksmill Green, between Ongar and Writtle, where it burst into flames.

The crash happened at around 3pm.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch is investigating the crash.
