A burst water main which caused disruption in a busy street has now been repaired.

The four-inch main ruptured beneath a bus stop along in Chingford Mount Road, Chingford, at around midday yesterday.

A large amount of water was sent flowing along the pavement and road towards the junction with New Road.

London Fire Brigade attended the scene to cordon off the area.

A spokeswoman for Thames Water said a team visited the burst main yesterday evening and expected 35 to 40 properties to be without water while repairs took place.

The repair work was finished by 10pm and water supplies were restored.
