British Airways staff have paid tribute to their colleague who died in a plane crash on Saturday.

Andrew Sully, who was a senior first officer with British Airways, was piloting a YAK 52 light aircraft when it crashed in a field next to the A414 near Cooksmill Green soon after it had taken off from North Weald Airfield.

A British Airways spokesman said: “Andrew was a highly respected and popular member of our pilot team.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”

Simon Chamberlain, 29, from Harlow also died in the crash.

The wreckage has now been taken to Farnborough by the Air Accident Investigation Branch where it is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
