A group of children watched eight chicks being hatched as part of a school project.
The class of four-year-olds at Chingford Hall Primary School in Burnside Avenue were given 10 eggs on March 21.
The pupils only had to wait a few days to see eight of the 10 chicks hatch from the eggs stored in an incubator.
The incubator was fitted with a large glass window to allow viewing of all stages of hatching.
Teacher Jane Bailey organised the project through company Living Eggs.
She said: "This has been an amazing experience for them to learn about the process of life.
“I consider it to be a rare opportunity for my pupils as it is not commonplace for children growing up in a city to see chicks hatch.”
The chicks will be collected by Living Eggs on Friday and transferred to nearby farms.
