A teenager faces life in jail after being convicted of stabbing a rival to death in Stratford’s Westfield shopping centre just prior to the Olympics.
Nii-Azu Kojo-Smith, 19, of Castle Close in Hackney Wick was found guilty of the June 2012 murder today at the Old Bailey.
The jury was told that a fight broke out between two groups of youths after a yoghurt pot and a glass was thrown between them at around 4.20pm.
Liam Woodards, 24, who was out celebrating his birthday, was then stabbed in the chest and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 20 youths continued fighting, throwing metal chairs and producing knives.
Two others, Tony Caton, 22, of Paul Street in Stratford, and Anselm Legemah, 19, of Elkington Road in Plaistow, were also convicted of violent disorder for their roles in the melee.
Four others were cleared of the same charge.
The men will be sentenced on Monday.
