Ongar Town Council will join members of The Ongar Millennium History Society to plant Flanders poppy seeds at various locations around the town, including the Cerizay Garden and the town council offices, on Friday.
The council has also arranged for poppies to be planted in the Jubilee Nature Reserve in order to celebrate the centenary of the First World War from 2014 to 2018.
Open Spaces Committee chairman Alison Wingfield said: “The council is delighted to work with the Ongar Millennium History Society on this project as it is important for the town to commemorate this centenary.”
