Ongar cub scouts had a chance to see plans for a new rock climbing facility in the town’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee play area.
Ongar Town Council has secured funding to build a Rock Stakz climbing facility and is working on the scheme, set to be installed in the summer, with company Park Leisure.
The cubs have been involved in designing the area and have helped fundraise by selling popcorn at various events as part of their community service.
Members of 3rd Ongar Cub scouts were shown by deputy clerk Judith Cook where the new rock will be placed, next to the current play area at Love Lane, Ongar.
Deputy clerk Judith Cook said: “A climbing facility was identified on youngsters' wish list at one of last year’s Play in the Park sessions.
“The cubs have really supported this idea by doing their own fundraising and have come up with some very imaginative ideas for the final design.
"We hope the addition of the Rock Stakz will enhance the existing facilities at the park and make it a fun, family friendly area to visit.”
