Loughton man charged after pensioner death

The driver of a van which struck a pensioner last year has been charged with causing death by careless driving.

Josh Benjamin, 22, of southern Drive in Loughton, was arrested when his white Ford Transit hit Emelie Buckner in Oakwood Hill, Loughton, at around 7.30am on October 10.

The 78-year-old was walking her dog at the time she was hit and died at the scene.

Mr Benjamin will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on April 30.
