A human resources (HR) officer will take a top post at Waltham Forest Council under a new restructure of services.

The new position of chief operating officer has been filled by Althea Loderick, currently a HR and transformation officer.

In 2013 Ms Loderick was listed at number 11 in the HR Most Influential practitioner list.

Under her new title, she will take responsibility for a range of council services.

The council has said that her salary has not been increased, although she will head many departments.

Further details of the restructure have not been released.

A spokeswoman said: “As chief operating officer, Althea will manage a new Operations Directorate which will bring together the council’s HR, Organisational Development, ICT, Transformation, Customer Services, Service Reviews and Business Support functions.

“Placing a greater emphasis on technology, this new directorate will improve services for residents, stakeholders and council staff, by making them quicker, cheaper and more consistent.

"More information about the directorate will be known over the coming months.”

Ms Loderick joined the council in 2010.
