Rubbish has turned a picturesque pond into an eyesore.

An area of Eagle Pond, off Snaresbrook Road, is full of detritus, including plastic bottles and crisp packets.

The area is maintained by the City of London Corporation.

A spokesman said: “Windblown litter in Epping Forest’s ponds is an ongoing concern. Not only at Eagle Pond but Hollow Ponds and Alexandra Lake in particular.

“Litter is not only dangerous for wildlife, it costs us over £300,000 every year to collect and dispose of as well as detracting from the beauty of the forest.”

A litter picker is being sent to remove the rubbish.

You may want to learn to read. It's not Redbridge's responsibility. It's City of London.

What is the difference? The consequence of irresponsibility by individuals to not properly dispose of their litter cannot be resolved by demarcation.

Point is people cause the problem and continue to do so as there is hardly ant chance of them being penalised for doing so.

There is a crown court opposite where offenders are let's off lightly daily. Maybe the should be made to wear red boiler suits and made to pick all this litter out of the pond and surrounding streets. Then flogged with a birch.

Morris, do you have anything constructive to suggest to banish the litter from the streets and ponds of the area?

I personally think that crooks convicted at court should be sentenced to a period of litter clearing after they finish gaol and that children should be educated in school about the harmful effects of litter on the environment.

He makes a lot of very good points here when he is not playing 'Devil's Advocate', better than a lot of idiots who contribute absolutely nothing to this page, except them down-thumbing someone just because of who they are, regardless of what they say. As i have said before, get a life, go out and do something constructive in your community and stop being prats.

My point is that you were on about Redbridge bringing in rules about spitting, then you mentioned they couldn't clear this up, which is two things that have no correlation to each other whatsoever.
