Mixed emotions have been felt by families across the country as they finally find out which school their child has got in to.

Last night, hundreds of families in Waltham Forest received the news by email while post applications will come through in the next couple of days.

In total, 82 percent of children in the borough received an offer from their first choice school.

Ninety-two percent of children in Waltham Forest were allocated either their first or second choice primary school and all applications resulted in an offer.

However, the government was warned last night that it faces a ‘growing crisis’ over school places by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.

Michael Gove was accused of failing tens of thousands of children who have not been placed in their preferred schools while demand is still expected to increase.

This year Waltham Forest Council’s admissions team received 3,486 on-time applications compared with 3,423 last year, and 3,387 in 2012.
