£6k worth of cigarettes stolen in shop raid

Police are appealing for information after £6,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen from a shop in Waltham Abbey.

'R P Sweet News' in Market Square was targeted by thieves at some time between 5.30pm last night and 6am this morning.

After gaining entry by forcing the back door opened burglars managed to damage the shutter covering the cigarettes.

Hundreds of boxes of cigarettes were taken after a 'search of the shop' according to police.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Loughton Police Station on 101 or Crimstoppers anonymously.
