The author of a book chosen for this year's World Book Night is to speak about the novel and her passion for literature.
World Book Night, now in its third year, is an annual celebration of reading and books.
Run by the Reading Agency charity, the event aims to reach the 35 per cent of the UK adult population that does not regularly read.
Of the 20 titles selected for this year's reading list is Geezer Girls, an adult fiction novel written by Walthamstow writer, broadcaster, and journalist Dreda Say Mitchell.
The five-time novelist and award-winning crime writer will be speaking about her career at the World Book Night event, organised by The Friends of Stoneydown Park, in Coppermill Lane's The Mill inWalthamstow on Friday between 7:30pm and 9pm.
Published in 2009, Geezer Girls, is about four teenage girls growing up in a care home and being forced into a life of crime which leads with no option but to run away. The story they fast-tracks 10 years and the women are asked to complete one last job.
Every visitor at the event will be handed a free book.
