A nationwide charity is looking for enthusiastic volunteers in Waltham Forest to support a collection weekend at two Tesco superstores.

Diabetes UK will hold the 'Big Collection' weekend across Tesco stores in High Road, Leyton, and Gainsborough Road in Leytonstone on June 13, 14 and 15.

This year the charity is recruiting 4,800 volunteers throughout the UK after successfully raising over £380,000 in 2013.

Volunteers can select morning or afternoon sessions running from 9am until 6pm on June 13 and 14, and 10am until 4pm on June 15.

People interested in volunteering can contact Caroline Townsend on 020 7424 1116 or email BigCollection@diabetes.org.uk.

How annoying it is to go shopping these days and get ambushed on entering and leaving, first thing in the morning, by fake smiling, bucket shaking people covered in decorations and silly hats.

I donate but would rather do it in my own time and by cheque to ensure it reaches the intended destination.

I will not give the these "chuggers".Their actions are deeply annoying. The only exception I make is the Salvation Army.
