A week of donations has helped raise nearly £1,500 to keep lives safe at sea.
The Loughton and Woodford branch of the Royal national Lifeboat Institution has raised £1,445 through supermarket, street and house to house collections.
The money will go towards maintaining lifeboats, purchasing up to date equipment and providing safety wear for volunteers.
RNLI Branch Chairman, Mike Evans said: “Thanks to generous public support our recent annual collection raised a great amount.
“Our two-day collection at Morrison’s Supermarket in Loughton raised £765 alone.
“We are very grateful for all donations and the help our volunteers provided.”
