A SPOKESMAN for London and Quadrant Housing Trust which runs Albany Court said the lift is not a standard model and it has been more difficult than usual to remove the broken part and find a replacement, particularly over the holidays when the companies that supply the parts have been closed for two weeks.
He added: "Obviously this is no consolation to the residents who have been affected by this breakdown and they will of course be entitled to compensation.
"Our contractors have now removed the faulty part and have sourced a replacement part which is being sent to them by emergency courier.
"We have instructed our contractors that this repair is a top priority and work should be carried out around the clock until it is sorted out. This should be completed this week."
