Police have seized a bulldog which attacked a man and his dog outside a school.

Ross Tillman, 34, of Fieldhouse Close in South Woodford, was bitten on the face while his puggle, Henry, needed an operation and 147 stitches after the attack.

It happened in a field next to Churchfields Junior School at 3.30pm as children were being picked up by their parents.

Redbridge police have now confirmed they attended the scene and seized the American bulldog for assessment.

Mr Tillman said: "Children were just leaving the school and it could quite easily have been one of them attacked. The parents were horrified.

“It really was quite a horrific event."

Wendy Thomas, headteacher of Churchfields Junior School, put up posters asking for witnesses to the attack to come forward.

She said: "Our prime concern is the safety of our children so we are appealing for people to get in touch with information or videos of the incident."
