Two people had to be rescued from their vehicle by firefighters after a car crash left them trapped.

Firefighters were called to the crash, involving two cars, on Dowding Way, Waltham Abbey just after 1 o'clock this morning. 

The two fire vehicles, from Loughton and Waltham Abbey, spent over an hour releasing the two people trapped in one of the cars. 

Both casulaties were taken to Princess Alexandra hospital for treatment. One female suffered chest and shoulder injuries and one male was left with arm injuries. None were thought to be life threatening.
