Labour leader Ed Miliband will launch his party's local and European election campaign today in Redbridge.
His is due to outline Labour's case during a speech beginning at 11.30am at the Redbridge Sport and Leisure Centre in Forest Road, Barkingside.
Speaking this morning, Labour's council group leader, Jas Athwal, said: "We are delighted to welcome Ed here and it is an exciting prospect for him to chose this borough. He has chosen it as we are confident of winning the election here.
"Redbridge has never been completely Labour so Ed is looking to launch the local elections campaign in a key area.
"Redbridge is very diverse and represents modern Britain, so it is a fantastic place to start the campaign."
Redbridge council has been a coalition of Liberal Democrats and Conservatives for eight years and the local and European elections start on May 22.
