Journals containing the thoughts and findings of High Sheriffs from as far back as 1880 have been released to the public.
Three volumes of the activities of Essex’s oldest public office have now been given a new home in Essex Record Office.
High Sheriff Andrew Johnston, who later became the first Chairman of ECC, started the tradition of recording his activities.
The first two volumes will be digitised and the images will be made available free of charge to researchers on ERO’s online catalogue.
