A trial date has been set for a man charged with breaking a policeman's leg by deliberately riding into him on a motorbike.
James Howsen, of no fixed address, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday accused of greivous bodily harm, dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a valid licence.
The 23-year-old will now appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on May 19 for trial.
The officer was called to Wensleydale Avenue in Ilford on Sunday evening following reports of burglars in the area.
He was hit by the motorbike close to the junction with Charlgrove Crescent and his leg was broken in two places.
