Confusion surrounds a wrecked car found in Epping Forest after emergency services gave contradictory statements about the circumstances of a crash.

The badly damaged white Range Rover remains in the woods in Goldings Hill, Loughton, following a reported accident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed it attended the scene of a crash at around 3.45am.

Press officer Gary Sanders said the situation involving a male patient was being dealt with by police when medics arrived.

He said: “I can confirm our ambulance crew did attend and we wasn’t (sic) required.

“The patient was dealt with by police, we stood down at scene.

“It appears the police found the patient, who may have transported him to hospital or he self-presented to hospital.”

However, police said they had no record of dealing with the driver.

A police spokeswoman said they were contacted by a member of the public after a car crashed into the forest and officers attended the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing into the crash and no arrests have been made.

On the same day former member of pop group Blazin’ Squad, James Kenzie, tweeted that he was cancelling all appearances for the TV show Big Reunion after being in an accident on his way home from Club 195 in Cottis Lane Epping.

The 28-year-old said he was recovering in hospital following a ‘serious’ car crash.
