Headteacher Jo Shuter will not be working at King Solomon High School until a decision is made over her future following a disciplinary hearing over expenses abuses.

Chairman of governors at the Jewish free school in Barkingside, Stephanie Sollosi, contacted parents to say the board was aware of parents’ concerns after Ms Shuter admitted misconduct in a previous job.

He said: “The Governing Body of King Solomon High School has become aware of parents’ concerns about the continued smooth running of the school, in the light of recent media reports of the misconduct hearing by the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

“This hearing was related to issues that arose prior to Jo Shuter’s appointment as Head Teacher at King Solomon.
“Until these issues are resolved, Jo Shuter will not be in school.

"Please be assured that in her absence, the Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body, supported by Redbridge Council, are working extremely hard to ensure that the situation does not impact on pupils’ learning at this important time of year.

"In short, we are determined to ensure that it is business as usual for our pupils. What is most important to us is that our staff and pupils remain focused on high standards of teaching and learning, especially during the lead up to the critical examination period.

"We would ask you to support your children in focusing on those pressing issues and not be distracted."

Parents were told more information is expected by May 14.
Some parents yesterday started a petition supporting Ms Shuter and calling for her to stay in the job, despite her admission that she wrongly claimed expenses while working at , including £7,000 for her own birthday party.

She took over at the free school in September 2013, but faces being banned from teaching unsupervised for life following a hearing held by National College for Teaching and Leadership, where she admitted misconduct while running Quinton Kynaston Community Academy in St John’s Wood.

She had previously been crowned headteacher of the year and awarded a CBE for her work.

Why she has to stay away is beyond me. There has been no misconduct in her role as head here, and there are hundreds of parents speaking out in support of her despite the negative comments on this site from a minority.

We want her back, now rather than later. This needs to be put into context.

because she is not an example, she has admitted to taking the money and it is WRONG! you are only looking at what she would have supposedly done for the school. What about killing the Jewish ethos? or don't you care about that??? She goes around saying inappropriate things to children. As a teacher myself if a student does wrong isn't he or she punished? Suspended? put in detention? expelled? SO WHY WOULD IT BE DIFFERENT for her??

Because from the evidence presented she is a crook and crooks should not have any place in a school.

ADTchigwell you really do not see the bigger picture here. So what would happen if your child cheated on an exam and was caught? What if he was expelled from the school.?
What if a teacher had sexual relations with a student? That would be wrong?
And it is!
But she has done wrong even though she admitted it. So does that mean that if I walk into a shop steal and admit it then apologise all will be ok? I should be forgiven? No I would be done for it and this is what you don't get..
People think that the sun shines out of her, it isn't the case. She goes around talking about other teachers to students and saying one thing but doing another, she is killing the Jewish Ethos of the school.
I am the type of parent that if my child does wrong I will punish her for it and I do not let them get away with murder, hence I am lucid and I can see Ms Shuter for who she is. Parents who think their kids are blameless and can do no wrong are the ones protecting Shuter. If your house was robbed would you forgive the thief? No you wouldn't!

Will she be paying for the plants and tools for her garden out of her own funds or the school funds?

If spent 7k of money belonging to others, for her birthday party, I think this is theft under one of the many offences under the Theft Act.

She should be in gaol, not in another school as she is a crook.

The jewish ethos was killed at the school well before she joined it, you have to blame the sheep like idiots who bus their kids to Barnet everyday. I can honestly say i have not met such a large group of pathetic people in a long long time .

Wise word Villagecranberry. I reckon that the parents that pat her on the head and find that what she did not to be serious must have skeleton in the closet as well, hence the reason the understand her wrong doings and forgive her!
