Dream becomes reality for Loughton lottery winner

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Terry and Linda Vigus won more than £1m on Saturday's Lotto draw Terry and Linda Vigus won more than £1m on Saturday's Lotto draw

A lottery millionaire has described how he dreamt of his success weeks before hitting the jackpot.

Terry Vigus, 58, from Loughton, said he was left feeling frustrated after matching five numbers during the dream and waking before the sixth was selected.

But three weeks later Mr Vigus and his wife Linda, 58, checked the numbers after growing bored during the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday and realised their lives had changed.

Mr Vigus, who won £1.2million, said: “My head’s spinning and I can’t sleep.

“I only ever won a tenner once before in all the years I’ve been playing.

“Winning this amount of money is enormous and totally life-changing.

“It takes time for me to make sense of it, but I know it will make life for the family so much easier.”

He added “I normally get a lucky dip ticket but for some reason my daughter suggested I do birthday dates this time.”

Mr Vigus and his wife Linda, 58, have been married 35 years.

Mrs Vigus said: "I just buy what I need I won't be buying any knew handbags."

The couple, who enjoy camping and fishing, plan on buying their home, paying off their daughter’s mortgage and treating themselves to a top-of-the-range motor home.

The couple’s winning numbers were 3, 5, 8, 10, 16 and 17. The jackpot was split three ways.

Motor home my left boot.

I do not know why some people do the lottery as they have no need for the money if they win anyhow as they do not know how to spend it.

I bet they get rump instead of fillet steak when they eat out.

Many congratulations to Terry Vigus. Wouldn't we all just love to pick up a similar jackpot! I don't know yet if this will work, but here's what I'm doing to try and get a win. I've made up a little free and just-for-fun webpage which generates your own personal quick pick numbers. Who knows, it might work - you just never know your luck! As I say, it is free and just a bit of fun, so look out for VillaLibra Lucky Numbers if you want to see if you can locate it for yourself.

They were told to go public due to if press find out they could make up their own story and take pictures of them going in and out of the house. She was scares her 3 year old grandson would answer the door to press .

Don't these articles get checked before they're published ?

I suspect Mrs Vigus actually said "any NEW handbags".

Lucky people and no hard feelings from me! I will no doubt be slated by some by £1.2m is a lovely sum of money to win but at the winners ages (hoping the live long healthy lives) it really just guarantees a life with no financial worries assuming they use it wisely (approx £50k/annum) for 25 years. After spending some of the money as they said they will they will have stability for a long time but not an extravagent lifestyle. Look and sound like nice, sensible people. Good luck to them.

You 'made' him do the lottery?

What did you do? Frogmarch him down to the newsagent under duress of the threat of a beating?

Are you jostling for position for a few quid?

People are so bitter here! Jealous, obviously. This is a fantastic win for anybody, and the 'dream' detail makes the story that much more exciting. Good luck to Linda and Terry!
