Three men have been jailed for a brutal attack on a man in a fast food restaurant, causing him to lose an eye.

On New Year’s Day last year, the 51-year-old victim went into McDonald's in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, leaving his wife outside in the car.

As he waited to be served at around 8am, a group of eight entered behind him.

They began verbally abusing staff over a delay in getting served.

The victim asked the group to stop and was threatened by one of the men.

Verbal threats continued until the victim went to leave, at which point he was punched in the face.

Others then began punching and kicking the victim.

He tried to seek refuge, but the group continued to attack him.

Finally one of the suspects broke off and grabbed a large plastic cleaning cone and delivered a heavy blow to the victim’s face.

He was taken to hospital but his left eye was later removed due to to his injuries.

On Wednesday, three men were sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court.

Kingsley Gordon-Allen, 20, of Ashville Road in Leytonstone, was sentenced to three years in a young offenders’ institute for one count of grievous bodily harm with intent.

However, the sentence will run consecutively to an eight-year sentence for causing death by dangerous driving.

Gordon-Allen was jailed on March 28, 2013, for killing 56 year-old Edward Orrey in Gainsborough Road, near Leytonstone Tube station, on February 9 last year.

The father-of-four was cycling back to his van at around 6am when he was hit by Gordon-Allen, who was over the drink-drive limit.

He fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle.

He was also convicted of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.

Ashton King, 21, of Boundary Road in Walthamstow, was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment for one count of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He will also serve one year to run consecutively for possessing a controlled drug with intent to supply.

John Pluckrose, 19, of Randolph Close in Leigh-on-Sea, was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders’ institute for one count of grievous bodily harm.

All three men pleaded guilty prior to sentencing.

Detective Inspector Tor Garnett, of Waltham Forest CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a member of the public who was rightly trying to intervene to prevent the men abusing McDonalds.

“As a result of this cowardly attack, the victim lost his eye.

"I am delighted that the people responsible will now spend a considerable amount of time in jail.

“The officer investigating the case, Detective Constable Marcos Marco, has worked tirelessly in order to ensure justice is done."
