Green was signalled by police to pull over in George Lane of South Woodford
A man accused of possesing drugs was sprayed with CS gas following a police chase.
Leon Green, 30, of Withy Mead, Chingford, is accused of possessing cocaine and failing to stop for police after he was signalled to pull over for allegedly driving with no lights on.
The incident started in the early hours of Saturday, in George Lane, South Woodford, and the car eventually stopped in nearby Marlborough Road.
The suspect was then found behind a block of flats in Glebelands Avenue and tear gas was used.
Green is accused of possessing cocaine.
He has been released on unconditional bail to appear at Barkingside Magistrates Court on June 12.
