Schoolchildren with dreams of becoming famous actors have appeared in a popular BBC series.

The group of 30, from Highams Park-based Act 2 Drama School in Richmond Avenue, appeared alongside presenter Gaby Roslin in the first episode of season three of Food Inspectors, aired on Thursday.

Split into two groups, the children aged five to nine were given the opportunity to find out what ice cream is made of, and asked their opinion on junk food.

Founder of Act 2 Drama School, Amanda Goodwin, said the pupils of Highams Park and Chingford school's were chosen because of their ability to be strong on camera.

A second group of children found out what goes into a chicken nugget and the episode will be aired next Thursday.

Filming took place at Handsworth Primary School in Handsworth Avenue, Highams Park, which is the main venue used by the decade-old drama school.

The BBC investigative programme started in February 2012 and is presented by Chris Hollins, Matt Allwright and Gaby Roslin.
