A man who allegedly drove a van the wrong way on the M11 and A14 for 50 miles will appear in court today.
Ryan Nee, 19, from Harebell Way, Romford, was arrested by police after allegedly stealing a white Ford Transit in Bilericay shortly before 1.40am yesterday.
The vehicle was driven through Ongar where police unsuccessfully tried to stop it and then along the A414 to Hastingwood where it joined the southbound M11 and travelled north.
Around 100 vehicles were forced to take evasive action and the pursuit eventually ended when the van collided with an HGV on the A14 in Godmanchester.
Mr Nee is charged with burglary, theft, taking a motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
He will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court this morning.
