A teenage pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a car yesterday evening.

Emergency services, including London Fire Brigade, were called to Winchester Road in Highams Park on Friday at 7:30pm following reports of female trapped under a car.

The victim, a 17 year-old girl, was in collision with an Audi A2.

Ambulance crews were first to arrive on the scene and said she was conscious and 'stabilised' at the scene.

She was taken to Royal London Hospital.

Police have described her condition as non life-threatening.

The area was cordoned off and Winchester Road was blocked in both directions at the junction with Cavendish Road for over three hours.

No arrests have been made but police have said they are investigating the incident.

A petition calling for speed controls along Winchester Road was launched in April after residents said they were fed up of the road being used as a 'race track'.

It was signed by over 70 households and passed to Waltham Forest Council's highways team.

The council is currently carrying out speed monitoring tests along the road.
