Free sessions at a new outdoor gym are being offered to help a community improve its fitness.

Weekly one-hour sessions will run from June 10 until July 15 at 10am and again at 7pm for the new euipment installed at Willingale Road Playing Field, Loughton.

The equipment is targeted at those aged 12 and over and helps improve upper and lower body strength and all round fitness.

The machines have instructions and suggested workouts printed on each piece of apparatus so users can use them easily.

A formal dedication ceremony for the site will take place on June 7 which all residents are free to attend.

A bouncy castle will be provided for children and refreshments will be available.

The £17,000 facility, received £10,000 from the Essex County Council Community Initiative Fund and £7,000 from Loughton Town Council.

It joins a similar gym in Loughton at the Roding Valley Recreation Ground which was installed in 2011.
