A parish council clerk will step down to take up a job closer to home.

Nigel Moore, who has been Buckhurst Hill Parish Council clerk since May 2012, is to leave the position come July.

Mr Moore has decided to leave the council to start a new job closer to his home in Kent.

He said he was sad to be leaving the council but pleased to be giving up the long commute.

“Buckhurst Hill is a great place.

“I have really enjoyed working with the local community and will be sad to say goodbye to the many friends I have made as parish clerk.”

Mr Moore said he was proud of all the council had achieved in his time there, including making the library more accessible for the community.

“The council has also launched a string of community initiatives like the Saturday Cinema and the forum for older people and it has a strong programme for the coming year.”

Council chairman Aniket Patel said: “Nigel has played a key role in the parish council and I am very sorry to see him go.

“I and my fellow councillors wish him well with his new role.”

Mr Patel added: “I would encourage anyone with the skills and enthusiasm to help us build on the last two years to apply for the position.”
