A new mayor has been elected in Loughton.
Cllr Sharon Weston has stepped into the position of town mayor after serving as deputy for the past year.
On accepting the ceremonial chain on Wednesday night Cllr Weston thanked outgoing mayor Cllr Jill Angold-Stephens.
The new mayor described Cllr Angold-Stephens as a "shining star" and a "wonderful example".
As mayor Cllr Angold-Stephens attended 70 events and raised more than £1,000 for the Chigwell Riding Trust.
Cllr Judy Jennings, who joined the town council at the last elections in 2012, will serve as Cllr Weston's deputy.
