Police are appealing for help to identify a man wanted in connection with an attack on a bus driver.

A 34-year-old bus driver was punched after challenging a man who refused to pay a fare on the 357 bus in New Road, Chingford, at around 5pm on March 25.

The attacker is described as a black man of medium build carrying a JD Sports bag.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Constable Dan Kelly on 020 3054 5402, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

People who cause gratuitous harm to others need to be dealt with appropriately. The first priority is to protect the public. People who attack front line staff like bus drivers, medical staff, parking wardens etc deserve an appropriate plus sentence. You don't go to work to be attacked.
