A tennis club is to attempt to break the world record for the most people taking part in a lesson for the second time.

Epping Tennis Club hopes to involve at least 406 people in the event, which will raise money for Haven’s Hospices.

The club tried to break the previous record of 250 people last year, but fell short.

The current record was set at an event organised by Judy Murray, mother of Wimbledon champion Andy.

Head coach Dave Watson said: “We had an amazing turn out last year, but this year there are a lot more people aware of the attempt so I’m hoping we will be able to break the record.”

The attempt will take place at the club on Lower Bury Road, on June 14 at 1pm.

The money, which will go to two hospices in Westcliffe-on-Sea, will be raised through donations.
